The Lynn Forney Young Scholarship is named in honor of Texas Genealogical College Co‑Founder Lynn Forney Young. Texas Genealogical College seeks to promote and support genealogical education by providing scholarship opportunities to deserving applicants who are committed to advancing their genealogical skills. Strengthening research competencies is a meaningful way to contribute to the genealogical, heritage, and lineage society communities.
The scholarship awards funding for the National Genealogical Society (NGS) Advanced Skills in Genealogy Course, which is a certificate course. Scholarship funds for the selected recipient are paid directly to NGS to cover or partially cover tuition for this program.
The NGS Advanced Skills in Genealogy Certificate Course is an 18‑module, self‑paced online program designed for intermediate to advanced genealogists. The curriculum emphasizes:
